Country rock with an ironic, cynical look at life.

Bad reviews are a thorn in every musicians side. Some bands take it all in their stride, others take it to heart, while a select few retaliate: $1000 Wedding have dedicated an entire album to the latter. “Nadine’s Probably Right”, recorded in 2001, gets its title from a reviewer who was so appalled by one of the bands live performances, she actually wrote to the venues’ owner to complain.

Nadine, however, couldn’t have been more wrong, as the album’s bright, sarcastic and superbly written alt-country sound demonstrates. Often bringing to mind the first two uncle Tupelo albums (hell, what alt-country bands don’t?), but with a style that is uniquely theirs, from the Lemonheads-ish “Whats Wrong With Mrs Ray?” to the accomplished Neil Young-like twang of “The Great Unknown”.
