Jeff, haven't you got an agreement with Telus yet? I've got this killer phone and I can't get the txts from you guys to even play with it. Any solutions?

Hey Hobie,
Best option is to complain to Telus. Honestly, this is the only thing that forces the carriers to change their ways. That, and lawsuits.
If you bought a phone expecting full web surfing capabilities, including downloads, and you aren't able to do that then Telus needs to know this.
And don't let them try to convince you that you have full web capability simply because you can surf pages and download from "their" store, this "look but dont touch" approach for the rest of the internet is not a real web experience. What's the point of bluetooth, mp3 and video playback etc if you cant download files? If you are paying for internet access, then that's what you should get. Sites and services should not have to ask permission to be accessed by customers, imagine if your home broadband connection operated that way, would you be satisfied?
We keep a close eye on operators and on our last tests, Telus was still a closed network and they were still crippling download capability from 3rd party sites on their handsets. If this changes we will be happy to add them to the list of compatible operators for our service. Feel free to let us know if this appears to be the case.

Its disgraceful - imagine if your fixed line internet company restricted ur access - or worse still limited it to only sites they (commercially) control!! New Zealand networks are really poor - Telus sounds just as bad! Go with an open network first chance you get. Fortunately the trend world wide is to open ------ bloody frustrating isn't it!
