I've uploaded 3 different mp3 files but they've all been rejected.
the first was 23 secs 44khz and 16bit.
By the third try I had changed it to 15secs 22khz and 8 bit, but it didn't make any difference.

can you tell me whats wrong.
Oh, the first two were 350 kb and the last one was 16kb

I'm going to answer myself now....how sad is that!

I've uploaded it in aac format and that's been accepted but on the preview it has a play facility to hear a sample.
It doesn't appear to be working.

unfortunatly the aac didn't work when I downloaded it to my phone. said it was corrupted.
It didn't work when I transferred it directly from the computer either.

I used Zamzar to convert from mp3. any helpwith what format it should be?

Hi Drew,
OK, but if you have any more problems, feel free to email me through the original mp3 and I'll see if I can figure out why it was being rejected. The bitrate shouldn't really affect the upload too much - the file size and format is what most phones are concerned with. Its still might be a good idea to upload an mp3 version if possible, as thats the most popular format and will maximise your compatibility with phones.

I think its a great idea that you're uploading some of your content as ringtones as well.

Hi Mike.

can you offer some help with the mp3 then?

I tried converting it using an online service to mp3 in case it was my software somehow, but it was still rejected.

Sure, no problem.
A really good program to use for audio conversion is the Switch Audio converter. Theres a free 30 day trial version available here.

The goal is to aim for a good balance between small file size and good sound quality: 300 kilobytes or less is a good size to aim for.
We've found that an mp3 ringtone with a bitrate of 64kbps still has good enough sound quality for mobiles (remember its going to be played through the phones speaker, not through headphones, so doesn't have to be amazing sound quality), while still being a nice small file size.

I'd also recommend converting to wma, aac and amr sound formats to maximise your compatibility. Wav's are also popular and of good quality, but are by far the biggest in terms of file size. You may wish to add a wav version anyway, to give the buyer the option of a higher quality file.

Hope that helps.
