Kevin Kelly has a really interesting post about making a living as an independent artist.
"One solution is to find 1,000 True Fans. While some artists have discovered this path without calling it that, I think it is worth trying to formalize. The gist of 1,000 True Fans can be stated simply: A creator, such as an artist, musician, photographer, craftsperson, performer, animator, designer, videomaker, or author - in other words, anyone producing works of art - needs to acquire only 1,000 True Fans to make a living."

Hi bethT,Have a look at our Seller Toolkit. We've got a number of ideas in there to help you connect with your true fans. One example is making a buyer your friend on the site so you can send them personal messages. There are lots of tips like that in there... And I know quite a few of our sellers are putting some of these into practice. Nice work guys!
