It's really important that you know the details of your mobile plan, especially when you're buying mobile content. Getting a dataplan will save you money and unlock the full potential of the mobile web

Learn from David's experience:
One of our members, David, bought a 240KB ringtone. He didn't have a dataplan but figured the download charges wouldn't be too expensive.

He was wrong.

When David got his bill he'd been charged about $12 by his operator, about 5 cents per KB (yes, a ripoff!)- just for downloading the ringtone "off-site", as operators like to call it

Then David found out if he'd signed up for a data plan he would've saved a lot of money. For only $5 a month David can download up to 2MB/month.

Unfortunately your operator is not going to automatically put you on the cheapest plan, but a quick phone call or visit to their website will get you on the right plan easily.

Isn't that outrageous? The Operators should default their customers to the cheapest plan - or at least alert them clearly. How many people honestly are that used to dealing with bits and bytes every day?
Say, if David had downloaded a fulltrack of 2MB - that's 2000KB. So, instead of 5 Dollars, he'd have paid 100??? Sounds kinda criminal, and at least not 'fair'.
Hope the Operators will get hassled.
